Flooded

EN
You might have already heard in the news that Italy, especially the cities of Florence and Pisa, have been flooded due to the heavy rainfall. (I'm OK, Mom!) Thankfully I don't live close to the Arno river, so we're doing kind of fine here, except all the roads to our house have been flooded since the roadside ditches completely filled up with water. Me and hubs were driving home last night when
the rain started pouring really bad, so we thought we'd just quickly go home, grab the cat and spend the night at his parents' house. As we got closer to home, we realized that there was a.... body of water separating us from the gates, and that it was at least 30 cm (1 foot) deep and 100 m long. We decided to drive through it anyway for the sake of our beloved Cocco, risking getting stuck in the middle of it for the entire night as well as the engine...

We got lucky this time, but when we got home and packed up our things and the cat, we realized that the water has completely closed down our way back. By this time at least four cars were already in the ditch, since they couldn't see it under the water and drove right into it. We decided to call the in-laws to come pick us up with the only problem being that they couldn't get through the water either (obviously). So, geniouses as we are, we tied trashbags on our legs and feet, put the cat (a 12 pound maine coon kitten) in his bag, and got going. Everything was great... for the first 10 steps, after which our bags started leaking... After a minute we were soaked, and after two minutes I walked right into a ditch. Waist deep... I somehow managed to keep Cocco above the water, but I myself felt miserable. Miserably wet. Thankfully hubs came to my rescue and the in-laws were right around the corner with their car and it took us only 10 minutes to get to their place. Well, it was quite an experience anyway...

Soo.... today's look: the road was better today, so we got the chance to go home, change and even take pictures. (You can see a minor puddle in the background.) I'm wearing a pretty low-cost look today, consisting of a knitted skirt I bought at H&M for 3 euros last week, and older H&M T-shirt, a similarly low-cost cardi, a vintage crocodile bag and amber necklace, and my go-to comfy boots (I swear I can't find the brand name on them...). Let me know what you think! :)

IT

  11. Oh my goodness, Anett...that's quite the adventure you had; and rather scary, too!! I am happy to see you smiling and looking so pretty in your photographs; proof that you are truly no worse for wear!! Your outfit here may be "budget friendly," but that doesn't mean it looks anything short of lovely; the colours and pattern of the knit skirt are so perfect with that amazing crocodile bag!!

  29. Your beauty and fashion stole us away from the muds and floods on the background. I heard about the flood and the rainy weather, and it’s good to know you and your family were okay despite all that happened. Stay safe, and keep an eye to leaks and moisture that got into your house. Veronica @ Dry First
