Summer Jewelry Special

The summer is in full swing and I know many of you are about to leave on vacation so I hand picked some beautiful jewelry for you. You can either take them on vacation with you or daydream about them while you're there. Either way, enjoy! :)

There is something magical about the contrast and union of wood and metal in Diane Turner's work. The fact that most of the wood used in the collections is upcycled, reclaimed or foraged adds even more charm to the designs, as each of  them have their own story. The metal, a special type of copper, is literally grown onto the wood like a skin through a series of technical processes. It's then either lacquered or plated in silver, yellow gold or rose gold. The ring above (from the Shards of Nature collection) is not simply a beautiful piece of jewelry to wear for a summer night cocktail party, it's a piece with a story to cherish for generations to come.

Boom Chappell designs beautiful jewelry with an organic feel using shapes and patterns found in nature. She uses large gemstones and sturdy metal settings to create pieces that are full of personality and life. Even though most of her creations are fairly large and could very well make a statement on their own, I love the idea of piling them on for maximum effect and letting them take center stage. Avoid matching everything perfectly, wear different shades of blue and green or purple and red together instead for a laid-back and modern look.

The style of Carol Chu's jewelry can be best described as eclectic: an experiment of materials, texture and color, with influences that range from Art Deco to Bauhaus, from Mid-century modern to industrial and from Oriental to Scandinavian. The pendant I chose for today's post is design at its finest: the simplicity of its shape and the complexity of the white and blue twirls make for a stunning contrast. It reminds me of the deep blue sea as seen from the porthole of a ship and makes me think of travelling to far away places. Wanderlust in a piece of jewelry.

"She has fire, but filtered in such a way that is warmth and light." That is who the Serendipity woman is: she conquers with her kindness and strength and soft femininity and proudly wears her jewelry to show the world who she is. This seven-piece silver and 14-karat gold stacking ring set is a pretty and practical addition to any jewelry collection. You can wear it with literally every outfit you own and it will complement it in the best way possible. And why not mix it up a little by adding other rings or wearing them on different fingers? The possibilities are endless!

Adorn your Inner Goddess with this beautiful gemstone jewelry made in sunny Arizona! Summer is the perfect season to wear colorful stones and at Gemini Moon Jewels you can find them in so many shapes and shades that it's not easy to choose just one. Some gemstones are kept raw, just like you would find them in nature, while others are shaped and polished to perfection, and they are gorgeous either way. My pick for this summer is this lapis lazuli bar necklace, perfect over a white linen dress with your hair down and a pair of gladiator sandals.

I think that the secret to working with beads, besides being really good with your hands, of course, is choosing a compelling and unique color palette. The repetition of tiny beads that form a web and a pattern makes it a perfect canvas for experimenting with colors and the precision of the craftsmanship is truly fascinating! The "Aladin" bracelet by Bijoux by Sandrine has a lovely color palette of white, turquoise, light pink and gold - one that I would probably never have thought of, but it works brilliantly. A charming bohemian touch to your summer looks!

The creations of husband and wife team Sonya Coulson Rook and Jackey Rook are bold and unique wearable pieces of art. In their shop you can find rustic, organic pieces as well as whimsical one-of-a-kind work. This necklace is a wonderful example of the former and a piece based on contrasts and juxtapositions: the large against the small, the 23 gold against the steel, the hammered texture of the links against the delicate chain. This is one of those rare accessories that are subtle enough to match most outfits, but are still a fascinating conversation piece.
