Ways to Help Your Makeup Stay on Your Skin For Longer

*Guest post by Kaylee Young of KayleeBeauty.com*

When it comes to makeup application, having it stay on your skin for longer is the main point of wearing it. Whether you are evening your skin tone out, covering blemishes, or you have just completed a natural look, having the makeup stay put on your sensitive skin can be challenging especially when you are not using the correct products. To solve this problem, I’ll take you through some of the ways to help your makeup stay on your skin for longer.

1. Always begin with a moisturizer.

You need your skin to stay fresh and in good condition when applying your makeup. By prepping the skin correctly using a perfect moisturizer, your skin will become hydrated, and it’ll take longer for the emollient to get dry or oily. For those with dry skin, you can try a hydrating moisturizer during winter while for those with oily skin, a mattifying moisturizer can do well.

2. Under your foundation ensure you apply a primer.

A primer gives you a foundation to stick to. It acts as a covering layer in between your foundation and skin. When your face begins to get oily or dry throughout the day, a primer will help to protect your foundation from clinging to dry spots or from slipping away. Nonetheless, there are primers for about every person’s skin concern ranging from hydrating and mattifying to pore minimizing as well as color correcting. It’ll give your makeup a perfect base to sit on.

3. Set your concealer in right away.

The majority of us have the issue of our concealer creasing and getting clumpy the entire day. Setting the concealer just after you apply and blend it will help with that problem. If you happen to use a translucent setting powder immediately after you are done blending it on your skin, your concealer will remain perfect for longer.

4. Prime your lids prior to applying eye shadow!

Before you apply your eye shadow, make sure to employ an eyelid primer. It’ll help the pigments stay on the eyes for longer, but will also give you more color payoff. 5. Do not forget to prime lips. Priming your lips is very important. Just like your face, you’ll want to make sure that you moisturize your lips before putting on lipstick. But before putting on the lipstick, you should swipe on a lip primer that will help your lipstick stay on for longer. Also, it keeps it from bleeding onto the skin thus giving you more color payoff!

6. Set your makeup using a translucent setting powder or a setting spray.

Make sure to set your makeup—be it with a setting powder or a setting spray—it is a crucial phase and maybe the most active phase of getting your makeup last for longer. Always ensure that everything is the way you need it to look since after it is brushed or sprayed on, it’ll be quite harder to move things. This powder or the spray is usually used as a protective layer between the elements and your foundation thus making your makeup last on your skin for longer.
